Lucía Mier y Terán Romero
Born and raised in Mexico City, she began taking singing lessons at the age of 12 and later continued her studies at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). In 2011 she obtained a scholarship for UNAM’s student exchange program to study one semester at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain and in 2012 she obtained her undergraduate degree as a singer. She has been part of the vocal a capella ensamble ‘Son de Media Noche’, the opera-clown show ‘Con la Voz en la Nariz’ and has performed as a soloist in places like the ‘Sala Carlos Chávez’ in UNAM’s Cultural Center, The Anthropology Museum in the city of Jalapa, Veracruz, the ‘Pedro Ramírez Vázquez Auditorium’ and ‘Casa Abierta al Tiempo’ of the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) in Mexico city and the Herzt Hall at the University of Berkeley California, among others. In the summer of 2012 she was part of the Baroque Academy at the Amherst Early Music Festival in New London Connecticut, where she received master classes from Julianne Baird. In 2014 she obtained an MA degree in Interdisciplinary Arts at Columbia College Chicago and attended the two week intensive workshop Early Music Vancouver with Ellen Hargis with whom she continues to study in Chicago.
She performs regularly with Theater Unspeakable's 'American Revolution' and is also the Music director of 'Moon shot'.
She has been a part of The Red Nose Lab Workshop offered by The School of Theatre Creators led by Paola Coletto and the Circus Arts class at the Actors Gymnasium in Evanston.
Clowning, physical theater, early and baroque music, photography, global warming, conscious consumerism and food waste are some of the things that keep her awake at night.
